I know these affirmation posts have been accompanied with some heaviness. I figure if we don't address it though, all it will do is stay in the dark and fester and keep controlling our lives.

So on to the next affirmation in the name of mental health awareness! Let's work on having a healthy, positive thought life!

"She wants to be everything...Just you wait."- S. Plath, Lin Manuel Miranda.

(this one is especially for you, Enneagram 3s)

Affirmation: "I am Worthy"

When I wasn't seeking validation from people, I looked for it in achievement. While achievements and success aren't as important to me, it has definitely been an area where lies have come in and messed with me

*Nerd alert* but most of my achievement validation came through grades in school (and now, my career). As long as I am achieving an unknowable quantity/quality (because somehow A's and graduating college weren't enough...), then I can be content and feel enough.

It's easy to tether our worthiness to achievement and success, or simply external validation. But this pursuit can lead to unhealthy boundaries in work, vanity, selfishness, inability to rest and relax, insecurity, imposter syndrome, and burnout.

These lies know exactly where to strike...

You are a failure.

You will never be enough.

You are defective.

Your best is not enough.

Resting is unproductive.

Your job/achievement/success defines you.

People only care about you when you are achieving.

Achievements are all that matter.

Your value is in your achievements and successes.

But I have news for you today- external validation and outward appearance do not define you. Here is the truth:

I am worthy (regardless of my achievements and status)

I am valuable.

I am enough.

I am confident.

I am loved as I am.

I am proud of who I am.

I am present.

I accept my failures and imperfections.

I do my best and my best is enough.

I will rest to restore myself.

I will live with authenticity.

I set healthy boundaries for myself.

May you be set free from the lie that what you show the world is all you are. You are more than what you do.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him”. Jeremiah 17:7

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23
